KYEOP initials stands for Kenya Youth Empowerment and Opportunities Project. It is a nationwide project designed to provide young people aged between 18 and 29 with skilled training on life and business experiences. KYEOP requirements

To be part of the KYEOP Kenya project, one needs to meet some minimum requirements. There are demands that one needs to meet for each of the opportunities mentioned earlier that KYEOP contributes to the youth. Here is an analysis of the requirements for each opportunity.

1. Training and work experience

  • Be aged between 18 and 29
  • Not currently employed
  • Not currently registered in any school or is planning to join a school in the next 8 months
  • Have completed education up to form four level or below

2. Grants

For start-up grants one is obligated to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a Kenyan between 18 and 29 years of age
  • Not employed at the time
  • Not currently registered in any school or is planning to join a school in the next 8 months
  • Have completed education up to form four level or below

For the expansion grants, one is required to meet the following:

  • Be Kenyan aged between 18 and 35
  • Have an actual business, which is registered
  • Must be a youth-owned business or enterprise

3. Certification

  • Certification of Kenyan youth with skills but no certificate requires one to be:
  • Be a Kenyan between the ages of 18 and 29
  • Have completed education up to form four level or below
  • Must be unoccupied currently
  • Must not be currently enrolled in any school or planning to register into school in the succeeding 8 months

Certification for master craftsmen (The master craftsmen are people with special abilities that have been in practice over time)

  • There is no age limit
  • One must be proficient in a specific skill or craft, which is deemed useful to the community and one that has economic relevance viability
  • One must be prepared to undertake training in order to upgrade their skills

KYEOP online application forms

The very first step to being part of the KYEOP project is loading an application form. If you intend to apply for this project online, you need to visit the KYEOP online website and click on the application form section This tab will assist you to fill out the form. Those who may not have the chance to get the application forms online can visit their regional chief’s office and collect the forms. Nearly 20 application forms per location together with a copy of the application publications are availed to chiefs for this purpose.

KYEOP online application procedure

The following is the KYEOP online application process:

  1. Look out for regular advertisements about the KYEOP project – those enthusiastic in participating in this plan should look out for call applications at KYEOP that are arranged on national newspapers, on selected Kenyan radio stations, or on the KYEOP website.
  2. Fill out the application form.
  3. Upload the form on KYEOP website after filling it.
  4. Make sure you upload it before the stated deadline. The deadlines for application are normally included in the advertisements.

KYEOP shortlisted applicants are picked using a computerised randomization process from the pool of applications received throughout the process of application. The chosen candidates are notified of the results.
