The retail sector is booming in Kenya and this has seen the rise of more supermarkets and malls across the country. Nakumatt and Tuskys are no longer the dominant supermarkets in Kenya as of 2019. In fact, the former biggest supermarket in Kenya that had several branches across East Africa just vanished out of our shopping sights. With the big giant gone, we have seen several, once small, supermarkets emerging and filling the gap. Supermarkets like Tumaini are fast-rising with affordable products and promos.
Here is a list of some top supermarkets in Kenya that will make your love of shopping smooth and under one roof.
This supermarket has its roots in Botswana from as early as 1986. It has branches in almost all major Kenyan towns. Choppies has a wide selection of goods from groceries to furniture of any kind. They also work with multiple suppliers and you will always find your shopping items in stock. The customer care is great and you will also get supermarket assistants in case you need advice on anything before buying it. So why not take a walk and experience it for yourself?
With the collapse of Nakumatt, Tuskys has dominated the market to become the biggest supermarket in Kenya. They have their branches in major malls in Kenyan cities and you will find almost anything in their outlets. I find it funny since the owner of Tuskys was once an employee at Nakumatt, well, always dream big as they say.
Another dominant supermarket in Kenya. The supermarket has its headquarters in Industrial Area, Nairobi. It was founded by Peter Mukuha Kago and currently has several shareholders including David Kimani, Grace Wambui, Simon Gachwe among others. They have quite a good number of products and you can be sure to visit them.
